EU PROJECTS
The goal of the project. To expand the innovative iniciatives of UAB Merkadus by investing in the establishment of a phytocomponent centre and R&D activities creating innovative phytocannabinoid extracts and fibrous hemp pharmaceutical products.
Project result. A technology centre meeting various requirement of production, such as good hygiene and HACCP. Experimental batches of products will be produced and tested by users in this technology centre. There will be purchased pilot equipment for implementation of R&D activities.
During the R&D activities, there will be created these products:
- Phytocannabinoid extracts (3 products) with a phytocannabinoid content of 50-90%, free of chlorophyll, waxes and psychoactive substances found in cannabis (Tetrahydrocannabinols (THC)).
- Prototypes of hemp fiber pharmaceutical and / or cosmetic products (8 TRL Actual technology completed and qualified through test and demonstration)
The project will develop new technologies for the production of functional ingredients or their elements from botanical raw materials by modelling their waste-free biorefining processes, as well as phytocannabinoid products from fibrous cannabis leaves and flowering parts, and prototypes of new pharmaceuticals such as suppositories and fibrous cannabis raw materials. Pilot batch production is planned.
The project is implemented from 2020. October 7 until 2022 October 31
The project is implemented under policy instrument No. 01.2.1-LVPA-K-856 “Eksperimentas”.
The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
